The bride and groom put parched rice in the sacred fire while reciting a hymn praying for their prosperity. They go around the sacred fire four times; the groom leads the first three times and the bride the last time. As our world becomes smaller, ceremonies that bring together families of divergent ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds are not unheard of. This wedding was the second part of a weekend that joined a Catholic bride and a Hindu groom. While the heritage of each is rich with symbolism and meaning, there was the common thread of joining a husband and wife in holy matrimony.
