constellation Orion rises over Zugspitze Mountain, German's highest peak in a bitter cold winter night. the interesting phenomena in this image are Gravity Waves. Says Wikipedia: "In the Earth's atmosphere, gravity waves are a mechanism for the transfer of momentum from the troposphere to the stratosphere, and are generated in the troposphere by frontal systems or by airflow over mountains."
