TWAN photographer, founder and Lennart Nilson Priceholder Babak Tafreshi enjoys the spectacular view of the Milky Way rising above the Paranal Platform at ESO's (European Southern Observatory) VLT Observatory site. Visible to the right is a auxillary telescope, on of three smaller telescopes supporting the VLT's. also visible is zodiacal light, a diffuse white glow caused by sunlight scattered by space dust in the zodiacal cloud. while at light polluted areas it is so faint that invisible, the dark sky at Paranal makes it visible again even with the unaided eye.
