if you stand at a certain point in the atacama desert, you can witness a scene like this: the Milky Way rising above Cerro Paranal - the Mountain in the Middle of the image, hosting the ESO VLT Telescopes. Furthermore visible is zodiacal light, a diffuse white glow caused by sunlight scattered by space dust in the zodiacal cloud. While at light polluted areas it is so faint that invisible, the dark sky at Paranal makes it visible again even with the unaided eye. an unforgettable moment in time.
