This photo was taken in a rural village just outside of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. I met this woman and heard her story through broken spanish, translations, and body language. She was the last of her family still in the village, the younger generations having migrated to the United States. She was sad to not be with her children but proud of their accomplishments. I saw in the lines of her face evidence of her struggles and wise age.
