This tender stalk from the coconut tree was cut and placed outside of a newly married couple's villa. In Malay tradition, this symbolizes vitality and fruitfulness in marriage. It is interesting to note that the "baby" coconuts emanate from the center of the stalk, surrounded by the other shoots for protection. This display in nature of the beauty of a newly married couple's hopes and dreams for children gives us pause and reason to reflect.
