Early one morning this summer my daughter Giulia at 2 and a half years old was looking for apples in the branches of the generations old tree in the back yard of Earlene's house in rural Mount Vision, upstate New York. But for a moment she arched her back and closed her eyes toward the sun and seemed to float upwards.
