Named 'black bears' by early settlers who first came across the black variety, North American black bears come in a range of color morphs--from cream to jet black. I came across these two oddly paired, sibling cubs while on an expedition outside of King's Canyon in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of California. Their protective mother was not far behind.
