A spectacular bejeweled bramble leaf transformed by degenerative changes towards the end of its life cycle provides a hunting platform for a spider - and stops me in my chilly tracks as I ride home through the woods after a late afternoon training ride, November 2012. Lycra is not ideal once you stop riding!
