Spellbound by the lushness and rugged beauty of Flores I set out just before the sun rose to explore the hills around Labuan Bajo. It was very pleasant with many wonderful vistas, but as the sun warmed the air and the earth, quite unexpectedly a dizzying array of flying insects became active. I was surrounded by buzzing and fluttering. It was the colour and playfulness of the many varieties of butterfly that captivated me most, and I followed them for hours. This delicate thing is taking a time-out to sip some dew off a flower before more fluttering and frolicking.
