Lakes of Kelimutu

The alluring, milky, turquoise waters below the caldera rim look pleasant enough, perhaps even for a swim, but they are quite deadly, and hundreds of feet below me . The contrast between the exposed minerals of the caldera wall and the liquid filled centre was pretty trippy, and kinda eerie as if observing a body of water on another planet. The experience was deepened by the blowing winds and drifting shadows of clouds dancing over the ripply surface, as I, small and alone observed it.
