Walking Down into the Fog

This was taken from the top of the stairway leading to the Point Reyes Lighthouse. Descending from the height of the cliffs to the level of the lighthouse, one can hear birds screeching and the waves splashing far below but not see anything, as it is obstructed by thick fog. I took this shot after climbing back up. Earlier, while walking down, the fog was too thick to see the lighthouse, and it looked like the stairs disappeared into the air. Near the beginning of the staircase, there is a warning that climbing back up takes the same amount of effort as it does to climb a 30-story building.

Location: Point Reyes, CA
