Crotalus oreganus helleri - Southern Pacific Rattlesnake, Starvation Mountain, San Diego, California. Rattlesnakes are common and abundant during the summer months within the secluded mountain community where I live. Late one afternoon I was relocating this one a little further away from the house and could not resist a few closeup photos. Fortunately, I was able to capture the moment of this one thanking me before it headed on its way.
