Moroccan Sandstorm

Arfoud is known as 'the gateway to the Sahara' and on a trip last April I learned just how quickly sandstorms can build. My girlfriend and I hiked out of town and onto a nearby sand-dune to catch the sunset to the west over the town. Off in the distance there was a black wall obscuring the Atlas Mountains from view. Moments later they were no longer visible and we decided we may want to head back indoors. I took this shot as we raced towards the sandstorm hoping to make it to town before it did. I didn't know it rained in sandstorms before this day.

Location: Arfoud, Morocco, Eastern Sahara
