Goldfinch Valentine

Last spring, a male goldfinch slammed into our sliding glass door and died on the deck. Those brilliant yellow feathers would never attract another female. I needed to memorialize his short life: a bed of dandelion flowers, violets, maple seeds and magnolia petals was assembled in a Sailor’s Valentine design over a light box. Even in death, there can be beauty.
