- A Peppermint Shrimp within a Branching Vase Sponge
- field_caption
- The Peppermint Shrimp is a natural recluse that lives its entire life inside the same bouquet of sponges. This tiny creature essentially taught me what kind of approach it would accept, and then it permitted this giant from another world to share a brief moment of intimacy within its private realm. The interior of the vase was dim, the ambient light was confined to the blue end of the spectrum, the depth of field was paper-thin, and at 75 feet deep my total time on-site was very limited. So, while restrained by physics and physiology, I was compelled by the beauty and the challenge.

- Shetland Pony running along beach
- field_caption
- I was up in the Shetland Islands for a few days this winter. It was a stormy day in Eshaness and I saw a farmer leading a few of his ponies across a field that ran directly onto a beach. It started raining and one of the ponies bolted, running along the beach and I managed to capture this before he calmed down and returned to the field.

- The sheep had drowned while trying to cross a small canal in the meadow-swamp 'Tøndermasken' in southern Jylland in Denmark. Birds had eaten every part abowe the surface and everything under was left totally untouched.

- Mummy I'm Down here, and Hungry!

- It had been an unusually quiet morning in the montane pine and fern forest close to the Borneo Highland Resort in Sarawak, Malaysia. I was about to pack my bags I hear this juvenile Spectacled Spiderhunter (Arachnothera flavigaster) calling chi-chit chi-chit trying to attract the attention of its parents above while flapping its wings. But the parents ignored it, and the it flew away - and I did not see it again.

- Quiver trees on a hill in the Northern Cape of South Africa. The best time of the day was late afternoon with the sun on the bark of the trees. The sky was blue with these interesting clouds above.

- It was an April evening. The spring sun was setting behind the pasture that the horses were in, and was exceptionally warm and intense. As the mare was walking towards me she dropped her head, presenting me with this composition.
