- A mother of two is wiping dust while her daughter is standing on the bed. Rani, married to a man addicted to injecting generics since almost 3 years, is spending the whole day in the house taking care of the children and household. The two pictures mounted to the room's wall visualize the woman's living situation in a vivid way. On the one hand she is a loving woman who gives everything for her children and her husband whom she is, despite his addiction and the problems involved, supporting as good as she can. On the other hand she is deeply overwhelmed with her husband's addiction.

- During the Turpan village visit, I heard a women sobbing rather loud at one of the house at the back street. I have encountered this Huis family funeral ceremony during my search of a narrative. It is not what I intended to see and witness. The family member was kind enough to invite me for a drink after the funeral prayer. My heart was heavy and speechless as I left the family.

- Landon Weaver, 9, swings from steel rings during the 2012 Region VIII Men's Gymnastics Championship at the Raleigh Convention Center on Friday April 13, 2012. The Championship brought over 650 male gymnasts from all over the Southeast United States to Raleigh. Landon traveled from South Carolina to compete while some traveled from as far as Florida.

- The unlucky car breakdown turned lucky when I found this school in a small village Khangral in Kargil on the way to Leh from Srinagar. The teachers also let me and my friends in to take pictures and most of the kids were excited about it. Some were shy and kept hiding while this little girl enjoyed the limelight.
