True Space Travel
Floating dreamlike 100 miles (160 kilometers) above the Earth, Edward H. White II becomes the first American to perform a space walk, on June 3, 1965. Maneuvering with a handheld gas gun, White traveled 6,000 miles (9,700 kilometers) from Hawaii to Bermuda in 21 minutes.
