You won't find any fingers running through this hair. Touching it is forbidden among Huli bachelors of New Guinea, who grow their hair into a mushroom style supported by a bamboo frame. Sanctified water dripped from leaves keeps it in shape. Before too long this bachelor's hair will be sheared off in a single piece to make a wig he'll sport for the rest of his life.
