Sooo-eet Music
Photograph by Piow Kan Pang, Penang, Malaysia

A harmonica signals breakfast for two appreciative pigs in a village in Fujian, China. "When they heard the music, they came near and stood up," photographer Piow Kan Pang recalls.

This selection is such fun. You couldn't have made these pigs do this. They're not trained animals. The boy just plays to them before breakfast and, because they know they're going to be fed, they have smiles on their faces. You just like the fact that even pigs like music and that the little boy knows how to play the harmonica. The inclusion of the tile roof makes you realize that you're in a foreign country. Every little section of the photograph is interesting: the word "Sport" on the boy's clothes, the stone wall, the beautiful pigs in the sunlight, the tile roof on the shed, and the boy's Asian face. You're just so happy that you can see these pets being treated to a concert before breakfast. E-mail this page to a friend
