They're those corners of the world that you just can't get out of your mind. Places so special, or just plain weird, that they take on their own personalities. National Geographic scoured the United States to include just such places in its ZipUSA series.
This month visit Fargo, North Dakota, where winter temperatures compete with North Pole cold. Other zips in the works range from Wichita, Kansas, where aviation workers keep the spirit of Rosie the Riveter going strong, to Talladega, Alabama, where a special institute prepares the state's blind and deaf for the world's sights and sounds.
