They're those corners of the world that you just can't get out of your mind. Places so special, or just plain weird, that they take on their own personalities. National Geographic scoured the United States to include just such places in its ZipUSA series.
This month visit Wiscasset, Maine, where digging in the mud for worms is a full-time job.
Other zips in the works range from a Kentucky town where punk rockers live in harmony with banjo players, to Pawtucket, Rhode Island, where immigrants from Africa's Cape Verde Islands soothe homesickness with music.
