They're those corners of the world that you just can't get out of your mind. Places so special, or just plain weird, that they take on their own personalities. National Geographic scoured the United States to include just such places in its ZipUSA series.
This month visit Whitesburg, Kentucky, where punk rockers live in harmony with banjo players.
Other zips in the works range from a Rhode Island town where immigrants from Africa's Cape Verde Islands soothe homesickness with music, to Nalcrest, Florida, a community built for retired letter carriersno dogs allowed.
