Photosynth
National Geographic is partnering with Microsoft Live Labs to create rich, three-dimensional images of global landmarks such as Machu Picchu, Stonehenge, and the Parthenon. The software looks for and analyzes similarities in a large collection of photos (of a place or an object), then stitches them together—letting you immerse yourself in the space. Click on the red dots on the map below to see completed synths. Click on the black dots to see photo galleries of synths in progress, then submit your own photos that we can include. (You must download the Photosynth software in order to view synths.)
