What was the best part of this assignment?

What impressed me most was the religious aspect of the event. The pageantry and solemnity of the event was fascinating. And it's very much a family affair. Even if not everyone is on horseback, they'll follow in cars in order to participate in the celebration. They'll set up camp for several days in anticipation of the procession.

What was the trickiest part of the assignmet?

There was nothing negative about this photo shoot. But as with all event assignments, where things are occurring all around you and at all times, you just don't know where to be. You don't want to miss anything, but it's impossible to be everywhere at once. So, I just had to gamble and try to be in the right place. I stayed with one group, coming up one side of the hill, hoping that I wasn't missing anything on the other side.

Did you come across anything particularly interesting?

The most unusual thing was the incongruity between day and night. During the day, the faithful were very solemn and proper, according respect to the occasion. At night, however, the scene was very much a fiesta, with everyone partying, enjoying the music, and having a good time long into the wee hours of the morning.
