“We are taking a break for the holidays and will return to the Serengeti in February. Can’t wait to see how the cubs have grown.”
This is one in a series of email dispatches from Africa written this fall by photographer Michael Nichols to his picture editor, Kathy Moran.
About the Project
Dear Kathy,
When the camera-filled four-by-four was found sitting empty and stranded in the Serengeti plains, the only clue to what might have happened was an iPod with the music set to play “A Lion’s Roar,” strangely stuck on repeat.
There were some strands of brownish yellow fur in the seats of the otherwise pristine vehicle.
