Reba Peck (above) graduated in 1977 with a fine arts degree from the University of North Alabama, where she met Nick Nichols, and did graduate work at North Texas State University. In 1990 she and Nichols moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, where she remains an active member of the artistic community. Peck, an avid naturalist, works in the field as driver, caption recorder, and keeper of accounts. She and Nichols have two sons: Ian, a Ph.D. candidate in chimpanzee studies at the University of Virginia; and Eli, who is finishing a degree in marine biology and fisheries at Humboldt State University.
